Fellowships "Digital Humanities",
Marbach Weimar Wolfenbüttel Research Association
Call For Applications:
The German Literature Archive Marbach, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel collect, preserve, and provide access to more than 500 years of German and European cultural history. With the aim of intensifying their partnership, these three institutions have joined together to form a research association, supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. This cooperation provides the framework for research work on three projects entitled Writers’ Libraries, Authors’ Portraits and Text and Frame. Another objective of the research association is to develop a digital research infrastructure. For more information on the association’s research projects go to: www.mww-forschung.de/en/.
The three institutions are calling for applications for several fellowships in the field of Digital Humanities, ideally lasting six months (at least three, a maximum of twelve). The programme is open to all disciplines and is directed towards young scholars (graduates at Master level) from Germany and abroad. Applicants must be working on a project linked to the interests and collections of at least one of the three institutions and make use of methods and techniques from the Digital Humanities (e.g. Markup Methods for Electronic Editions, Stylometry, Topic Modelling, Visualisation). Prior to the application it is recommended to contact the respective collection department for further information on the holdings of interest.
Fellows will receive a monthly stipend (€ 1,200 for graduates, € 1,800 for postgraduates); an additional travel allowance will be granted. The particular institution will support the fellow’s project with its own expertise and in finding suitable accommodation (guest houses may be available). Fellows are expected to contribute to the academic life of the particular institution and to participate in scholarly exchanges. The fellows are required to reside in Marbach, Wolfenbüttel or Weimar respectively. Unless otherwise stated, the general terms and conditions of the individual institutions apply.
Application deadline: July 15 (for a fellowship beginning at the earliest on October 15)
